Zulu Defence Systems Unveils Multi-Barrel Launcher for Swarm Loitering Munitions, Boosting Tactical Strike Capabilities

Bengaluru-based defence technology startup Zulu Defence Systems has unveiled a new multi-barrel launcher designed for the rapid deployment of loitering munitions. This latest innovation significantly expands the company’s tactical unmanned systems portfolio, offering armed forces a compact, infrastructure-light solution for coordinated swarm operations and multi-target engagement in modern battlefield scenarios.Track Defense News

The portable multi-barrel launcher supports simultaneous or sequential launches of multiple loitering munitions, allowing operators to saturate enemy positions with precision strikes while minimising setup time and logistical burden. Its compact design makes it highly mobile and suitable for forward-deployed units, special forces, and rapid-response teams that require immediate firepower without heavy launch infrastructure.

Engineered for seamless integration with Zulu’s existing platforms, the launcher enhances operational tempo by enabling coordinated swarm tactics that overwhelm air defences and engage multiple high-value targets effectively.

At the heart of Zulu Defence’s portfolio is the HOVERBEE, a lightweight, palm-launched vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) micro drone. This versatile platform can be quickly configured for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions or transformed into a lethal loitering munition by replacing its surveillance payload with a 400-gram explosive warhead.

Featuring a low acoustic signature for stealthy operations, the HOVERBEE supports rapid field deployment by infantry squads and special forces. It has already seen operational induction with elite units such as the Indian Navy’s Marine Commandos (MARCOS), demonstrating its maturity and battlefield readiness.

Complementing the HOVERBEE is the DRAP (Deployable Reconnaissance & Attack Platform), a more powerful VTOL loitering munition system. Equipped with advanced edge computer vision capabilities, DRAP can carry warheads weighing up to 1.5 kilograms and features multiple fuse configurations to meet diverse mission requirements, from anti-personnel to anti-armour roles.

With an extended operational range, the DRAP delivers long-endurance surveillance and precision strike options, making it ideal for targeting high-value assets from safer stand-off distances.

All Zulu platforms operate within the company’s Advanced Air Defence Aerial Systems (AADAS) framework — an artificial intelligence-powered software architecture that unifies ISR data, target identification, and precision strike capabilities into a single operational ecosystem. AADAS enables autonomous flight functions, real-time collaboration between platforms, and seamless swarm coordination for complex missions.

The combination of the new multi-barrel launcher, HOVERBEE, DRAP, and AADAS creates a complete tactical ecosystem that can be rapidly scaled for infantry, special forces, and larger formations. As production ramps up and further trials progress, Zulu Defence is well-positioned to strengthen India’s unmanned capabilities and potentially explore export opportunities in the growing global market for loitering munitions and swarm systems.
